Remember the collaborative documentary I posted about a while back?

Well it is ready and last night it screened at the Sundance Film Festival. Reactions where quite positive. The full film will be available on YouTube in a few hours so be sure to check it out. It certainly sounds very interesting.

Ask any film geek that question and the answer you will get will almost always be the same:

What can I write about this miracle of a film that hasn't already been written, except that every word of praise ever published about Stanley Kubrick's masterpiece is well deserved.

Fans of 2001 will be pleased to know that Douglas Trumbull, who worked as a special photographic effects supervisor on 2001 and many other films, is preparing a documentary about the making of 2001: A Space Odyssey. On his official site there is a 3.5 minute video (scroll down to see it) where you can get a glimpse of what it's going to be like. From the looks of it, it is going to be an amazing documentary with tons of previously unseen material (behind the seen photos, concept art, etc) providing a unique insight into the making of the film.

It is likely that this documentary will be included into a new Stanley Kubrick Blu-ray box set, that Warner is rumored to be preparing for release next year.

"Life in a day"

Do you want to be a part of a documentary shot entirely by normal people around the planet? Life In A Day is your chance.

Produced by Ridley Scott and directed by Kevin Macdonald, Life In A Day is an experimental documentary. The concept is simple: the film makers are asking you to film a moment of your life on July 24th and upload it to YouTube. The best videos will be put together to create a unique perspective of everyday life around the planet.

The film will be presented on January 2011 at the Sundance Film Festival and 20 of the people whose footage is used in the film will have a chance to go to the premiere.

Oliver Stone's "South of the Border"

"South of the Border" is a new documentary by Oliver Stone that explores the misperception of South American countries by the western media. Stone visits five countries and has conversations with the Presidents of seven countries: Hugo Chávez (Venezuela), Evo Morales (Bolivia), Lula da Silva (Brazil), Cristina Kirchner and her husband and ex-President Nėstor Kirchner (Argentina), Fernando Lugo (Paraguay), Rafael Correa (Ecuador), and Raúl Castro (Cuba).

"American: The Bill Hicks Story" trailer

If you don't know who Bill Hicks is, then my advise to you is to go to YouTube and start watching all the videos you can find.

Bill Hicks was a comedy genius who, sadly, was taken at the prime of his life (aged 32) by pancreatic cancer.
American: The Bill Hicks Story is a documentary about his life with interviews of his family and friends.
